Getting Your Hair Wet

I have an ongoing argument with Travis and the kids about getting my hair wet. They just can’t understand why I don’t like to get either salt or chlorine water on my hair. Any girl knows it makes a dry, brittle, tangled, all around mess! So this weekend, after about 5 trips to the beach so far this year and much debate with myself, I let go, and got my hair wet! Washing, conditioning, drying, straightening, styling, takes a lot of time, but I can’t get back the time and memories lost, watching from the side of the pool. So don’t watch life go by, get your hair wet!

Busy, Crazy, Loved...HAPPY

I know I have been hard to keep up with lately (like that is something new!), so I decided to start this blog in hopes to better that situation. My life is crazy, crazy good. We have all been through so many bad times and heartache in the past three years, it's time for some fun and enjoyment of life! I have been trying to teach myself to enjoy life to the fullest, and no I'm not jumping out of airplanes, bungee jumping off a bridge or climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, but the small things. Having breakfast made for me, even if it's just cereal, realizing I have the same eyes and hands as my mother, remembering how much I enjoyed hearing my dad laugh. Watching a brother and sister play, swim or jump on the trampoline, hear the latest news in a small town from my papa over stale coffee at a fast food joint, listening to my uncles tell the same stories over and over again, they are just as funny as the first time I heard them. Hearing a young girl tell her father, "daddy, I love you", no longer makes me sad, but happy I had 23 years with a wonderful father. I love the fact that someone loves me, for me, white eyelashes and all! The sound of wind blowing through a palm tree sounds so good, ocean breezes are the best, sand between your toes doesn't classify as getting dirty, hanging out at the "sandbar" with family and friends on a Sunday is the best way to START a week! Shopping with a friend, your mom or an aunt is more fun than shopping alone. Finding a brand new denim skirt with the price tag on it at Goodwill, makes me so incredibly giddy. Peanut butter balls at Christmas time are the best! Loving my family for who they are and for helping me to become who I am today. Breathing slowly, realizing I am blessed in so many ways and thankful for the life I have been given. Cherishing old friendships and embracing new ones, realizing the past is the past, you cannot run from your demons, but defeat them instead, living for today and hoping for tomorrow. Life is good...MY life is good...I CHOOSE to be happy!
